Gold Coast hinterland mansion designed for revheads with a 29-car garage

A Gold Coast hinterland estate for sale well and truly caters to motoring enthusiasts, with what could easily be Australia’s largest garage.

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom home at 28A Lesley Anne Court in Maudsland has a 25-car garage occupying 800 square metres, plus a three-car garage and truck carport. There is total space for 29 vehicles, in what agents describe as their home within the home.

The seller, Ian Johns, is a tyre “fanatic” and a lover of classic Australian muscle cars. He is relocating to his hometown of Perth with his wife after seven years on the Gold Coast.

Unfortunately, for diehard car fanatics, he will be taking his “stack” of cars with him. But the space will remain to build a new collection.

Ray White Burleigh Group agent Andrew Rouse, who holds the listing alongside Tracy McCarthy, says the home is designed for “revheads”.

“With space for 25 cars, it’s one of the Gold Coast’s biggest garages – then you add the other three spots in the main residence and the truck carport and altogether, that’s room for 29 vehicles.

“The seller is retired but was in the tyre business and a bit of a fanatic himself, so naturally his cars had their own ‘residence’.”

Johns, who describes his cars as his “pride and joy”, jokes that the garages are “kind of like a man cave on steroids”.

The home itself has a Mediterranean-style aesthetic and grand proportions. A slate mosaic driveway leads to a water feature, enclosed by lush grounds.

Interiors are luxurious with hardwood floors, imported Italian travertine tiles, marble detail and chandeliers.

There’s ample space to entertain with multiple open-plan living zones, a gazebo with built-in barbecue and kitchen, and a lap pool and bar.

As stated on the listing, there is potential to earn a rental income of up to $2,500 per week for the whole property, or up to $550 per week for the guest house alone.

Agents are seeking expressions of interest until 12pm on July 25. The vendor will sell “prior for the right offer”, they advise. Price hopes are in the mid to high-$3 million bracket.

Domain’s House Price Report for the March 2023 quarter reveals the median price for a home in Maudsland is $898,500.

Located in the heart of the Gold Coast hinterland, the property is just a 15-minute drive to cafes, shops, schools and theme parks.
